Course
- This course is aimed at students who want to learn more about Japanese culture.
- We offer three courses taught in English about Japanese culture. They are on calligraphy, sumi-e, and kimono.
- We welcome students who are complete beginners, and have never used a calligraphy brush or use a kimono.
Course
- Our kimono course consists of four sessions, but it can also be arranged for one day.
Outline
- What is a kimono? What is a yukata? Through this course, students will learn the ways of kimono. We will cover its history, the different kinds that exist and how to appreciate the designs. Students will also learn how to tie the obi (belt). Our goal is that by the end of the course, students can tie their own obi.

- We welcome all students, even if you have never used a calligraphy brush before! This course introduces the essentials of proper brush technique and towards the end students will write their favorite characters on specials Japanese paper! The contrast of black calligraphy ink and the white of Japanes paper is indeed art!
- Calligraphy: Each kanji has its meaning. Express your inner emotins through kanji!
- Sumi-e: Experience the serenity of Japan while creating your own ink paintings.
